Primary Responsibilities Provide support for the Enterprise digital product team on optum.com, and other Optum sites as needed Create UI Design, UI components, and Visual Design elements as required Prepare and optimize digital imagery for web experiences, including cropping, resizing, color correction, retouching, background cleanup, and file optimization Explore emerging opportunities in the digital healthcare space and contribute ideas as needed Interpret insights (analytics, VoC, market feedback etc.) to inform design decisions and improve experiences Continually advocate for the user and ensure there is a shared understanding of the problems we are solving Apply and contribute to the UI Design System and reusable components Partner with product, engineering, and content teams to deliver high-quality design solutions Participate in design critiques and incorporate feedback from stakeholders Take ownership of UI design execution across features or workstreams Ensure designs are aligned with usability, accessibility (A11y), and technical feasibility considerations Maintain a design culture of simple, seamless interfaces and components Collaborate with other designers to ensure consistency and quality across experiences Support research efforts and incorporate findings into design improvements Effectively communicate design ideas, approach, and progress with stakeholders and team members Work across multiple projects and balance competing priorities Leverage AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve research, ideation, documentation, and design workflows while helping identify opportunities to increase team effectiveness Mentor and provide constructive feedback to other designers, helping elevate design quality and foster a collaborative learning culture Collaborate effectively with globally distributed teams, including partners across multiple time zones, while communicating design decisions clearly and confidently Partner closely with engineering throughout implementation to ensure high-quality execution through design reviews and quality assurance Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so Required Qualifications Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience 7+ years of hands-on experience with UX/UI, interaction design, or visual design 7+ years of experience working with multiple teams and competing priorities 7+ years incorporating user feedback in the design process (user research, NPS, Voice of the customer) 7+ years of experience with industry design tools (Figma, Figjam, Figma Make, Adobe Creative Suite) 3+ years of experience working in cross functional teams 3+ years of experience building and/or utilizing personas to inform design decisions 3+ years of experience presenting design work to stakeholders Experience applying and contributing to design systems and component libraries Solid understanding of visual design principles, interaction design, and usability best practices Proven ability to clearly communicate design decisions and collaborate effectively with stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Experience working with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Experience working in a large corporate or matrixed organization Experience using AI-enabled tools to enhance research, ideation, documentation, or design workflows Healthcare experience. Experience designing products in similarly complex or regulated industries including insurance, financial services, retail, telecommunications, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or enterprise software Familiarity with Agile teams, including sprint planning and collaboration with product and engineering Proven ability to contribute in a fast-paced, complex environment with evolving priorities Demonstrated solid attention to detail and commitment to high-quality design execution Demonstrated ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams Demonstrated ability to contribute to alignment on scope, deliverables, and timelines Demonstrated ability to contribute to alignment on scope, deliverables, and timelines Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic design environment At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
