IOCombats ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy describes what data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have over your information when you use our website at iocombats.com.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Account information: Your name, email address, and profile picture, provided directly or via your Google or GitHub OAuth account when you sign in.
- Challenge submissions: Code you write and submit when completing UI challenges or build blocks on the platform.
- Activity and momentum events: Pages you visit, time spent on content, challenges attempted, and other in-platform actions used to calculate your Momentum Score.
- Payment metadata: Your subscription plan, billing status, Razorpay subscription ID, and payment history. We do not store your card number — Razorpay handles all payment instrument data directly.
- Usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referral source, collected automatically via analytics tools.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To create and manage your account
- To determine your membership tier (Free or Pro) and gate content accordingly
- To calculate your Momentum Score and display your learning progress
- To process your subscription and manage billing via Razorpay
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, subscription receipts) via AWS SES
- To improve platform performance and user experience
- To serve relevant advertisements via Google AdSense
3. Third-Party Service Providers
We share your data with the following third-party processors solely to deliver our services. Each processor is contractually bound to use your data only for the stated purpose.

4. Cookies
We use three categories of cookies:
- Essential cookies — authentication session tokens (NextAuth JWT). These are strictly necessary for you to stay logged in and cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies — set by Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager to measure how visitors use the site. Require your consent.
- Advertising cookies — set by Google AdSense to personalise ads shown on the platform. Require your consent.
You can accept or decline non-essential cookies via the cookie banner shown on your first visit. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser storage and revisiting the site.
5. Data Retention
- Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will remove your personal data within 30 days.
- Challenge submissions and activity events are deleted with your account upon request.
- Payment records are retained for 7 years from the date of the transaction for legal and tax compliance, regardless of account status.
- If your Pro subscription is cancelled or expires, your account remains intact but Pro access is revoked. We do not automatically delete your data upon cancellation.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Export a copy of your account and submission data
- Delete your account and all associated personal data
- Correct inaccurate personal information
- Withdraw consent for analytics and advertising cookies at any time

7. Children's Privacy
IOCombats is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email.
