We are investing in User Experience as a strategic capability to accelerate digital transformation, improve operational efficiency, and deliver more consistent experiences across our digital ecosystem. As our UX organisation grows, we are establishing the structures, governance models, Design System capabilities, and operational foundations required to scale UX across products, regions, and business units. This role is part of that foundational journey.
As one of the first strategic hires within the UX organisation, the UX Operations & Program Lead will play a critical role in enabling the success of UX teams and initiatives across Alstom. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of programme management, design operations, stakeholder coordination, and organisational change.
You will serve as the operational backbone of the UX organisation by coordinating programmes, managing planning and budgets, facilitating governance, driving delivery alignment, supporting Design System adoption, and establishing scalable ways of working that allow UX teams to operate efficiently and effectively.
Working closely with UX leadership, UX Designers, UX Researchers, Design System teams, Product Managers, Engineers, and business stakeholders, you will help build a world-class UX capability that delivers measurable value across Alstom's global digital landscape.
Key Responsibilities
UX Program & Portfolio Management
Coordinate UX initiatives across multiple projects, product teams, business units, and transformation programmes.
Build and maintain UX roadmaps, delivery plans, milestones, dependencies, and programme schedules.
Facilitate portfolio planning and prioritisation activities in alignment with business objectives and product strategies.
Manage programme risks, blockers, dependencies, budgets, and resource allocation.
Track progress and ensure transparency across all UX initiatives.
Organise and facilitate governance reviews, steering meetings, planning sessions, and cross-functional workshops.
Drive alignment between UX, Product Management, Engineering, Data, Operations, and Business stakeholders.
UX Operations & Ways of Working
Establish and maintain scalable UX operating processes and governance frameworks.
Create repeatable processes that improve planning, coordination, delivery visibility, and team effectiveness.
Define and maintain UX documentation frameworks, repositories, templates, standards, and playbooks.
Support capacity planning, resource forecasting, onboarding, operational reporting, and budget management.
Improve collaboration across distributed UX teams and business domains.
Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives across the UX organisation.
Support UX maturity growth through process optimisation and operational enablement.
Design System Governance & Coordination
Partner closely with Design System Leads, UX Designers, UI Designers, and Front-end Engineering teams.
Coordinate Design System planning, roadmap execution, release management, and adoption activities.
Support governance processes ensuring consistency and scalability across products.
Facilitate collaboration between product teams and Design System contributors.
Track Design System adoption, implementation progress, and business impact.
Ensure alignment between Design System evolution and product development priorities.
Support the establishment of standards, patterns, reusable assets, and design governance practices.
Stakeholder Management & Communication
Build strong relationships across Product, Engineering, Business, Digital, Procurement, and Finance organisations.
Facilitate decision-making and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
Produce executive-level reporting on programme health, capacity, risks, achievements, and outcomes.
Communicate priorities, progress, challenges, and opportunities to leadership.
Act as a trusted partner helping teams navigate complexity while maintaining focus on user-centred outcomes.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
Define and maintain UX operational KPIs and performance indicators.
Track programme effectiveness, Design System adoption, delivery performance, and organisational maturity.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce duplication, and increase consistency across teams.
Support leadership with insights and recommendations based on programme data and operational performance.
Required Skills & Qualifications
We are seeking a highly organised and collaborative professional who combines programme management expertise with a strong understanding of UX and Design organisations.
Required Experience
7+ years of experience in Program Management, Design Operations, Product Operations, Product Management, UX Operations, Digital Transformation, or related disciplines.
Experience working directly with UX Design, UX Research, Design System, Product Management, or Engineering organisations.
Experience coordinating complex, cross-functional programmes across multiple stakeholders and delivery teams.
Experience building operational processes, governance frameworks, and scalable delivery models.
Proven ability to manage roadmaps, budgets, planning cycles, resource allocation, and executive reporting.
Experience operating within Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or product-centric delivery environments.
Desired Experience
Experience supporting Design System initiatives or Design Operations functions.
Experience in enterprise software, industrial technology, mobility, transportation, SaaS, or digital product organisations.
Experience building or scaling DesignOps, UXOps, PMO, or transformation capabilities.
Experience supporting organisational change and transformation initiatives.
