The Enterprise Digital Product Office (EDPO) at Optum is a centralized organization focused on accelerating digital transformation across the enterprise. The team partners across business, technology, and operations to design, build, and scale product-centric solutions that improve customer experiences, optimize operational workflows, and deliver measurable business outcomes. The team drives consistency in product strategy, agile delivery, and design practices, enabling teams to operate with greater speed, clarity, and impact. By aligning cross-functional stakeholders and leveraging modern technologies-including cloud platforms, data, and AI-the organization supports the development of scalable, user-centered solutions that help advance Optum's mission to build a more effective and equitable health care system. Primary Responsibilities Provide support for the Enterprise digital product team on optum.com, and other Optum sites as needed Lead the end-to-end design of complex product initiatives, from discovery and concept development through delivery and continuous improvement Create user flows, wireframes, journey maps, and information architecture artifacts Explore emerging opportunities in the digital healthcare space and contribute ideas as needed Translate user research, analytics, and business insights into design strategies that balance user needs, business objectives, and technical feasibility Continually advocate for the user and ensure there is a shared understanding of the problems we are solving Partner with research and content teams to align on user needs, messaging, and experience design Collaborate with product, engineering, and cross-functional partners to deliver cohesive UX solutions Participate in design critiques and incorporate feedback from stakeholders Take ownership of UX design execution across features or small to mid-sized experiences Support development of site maps, navigation systems, and information architecture structures Ensure designs align with usability, accessibility (A11y), and technical feasibility considerations Maintain a design culture of simple, seamless, and intuitive user experiences Collaborate with other designers to ensure consistency and quality across experiences Support research efforts and translate findings into design improvements Effectively communicate design ideas, approach, and progress with stakeholders and team members Work across multiple projects and balance competing priorities Leverage AI-enabled tools responsibly to improve research, ideation, documentation, and design workflows while helping identify opportunities to increase team effectiveness Mentor and provide constructive feedback to other designers, helping elevate design quality and foster a collaborative learning culture Collaborate effectively with globally distributed teams, including partners across multiple time zones, while communicating design decisions clearly and confidently Partner closely with engineering throughout implementation to ensure high-quality execution through design reviews and quality assurance Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so Required Qualifications Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience 7+ years of Experience 7+ years of hands-on experience with UX design, interaction design, or information architecture 7+ years of experience working with multiple teams and competing priorities 7+ years incorporating user feedback in the design process (user research, NPS, Voice of the customer) 7+ years of experience with industry design tools (Figma, Figjam, Figma Make, Adobe Creative Suite) 7+ years of experience working in cross functional teams 3+ years of experience building and/or utilizing personas to inform design decisions 3+ years of experience presenting design work to stakeholders Experience translating research insights into actionable design solutions Solid understanding of information architecture, user flows, and journey mapping Proven ability to clearly communicate design rationale and collaborate effectively with stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Proven ability to contribute in a fast-paced, complex environment with evolving priorities Experience working with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Experience collaborating with global teams, including U.S.-based stakeholders Healthcare experience is preferred but not required. Experience designing products in similarly complex or regulated industries including insurance, financial services, retail, telecommunications, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or enterprise software is also valued Experience working in a large corporate or matrixed organization Experience using AI-enabled tools to enhance research, ideation, documentation, or design workflows Familiarity with Agile teams, including sprint planning and collaboration with product and engineering Proven solid attention to detail and commitment to high-quality design execution Proven ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams Proven willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within a dynamic design environment Proven ability to contribute to alignment on scope, deliverables, and timelines At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
